SAF Cardiac Fitness Centre

​The SAF Cardiac Fitness Centre (SCFC) is a dedicated one-stop facility that provides specialised tests in accordance to Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) cardiac screening protocols, such as the SAF Health Screening Programme (HSP), which are aligned with international guidelines.

Cardiac screening is an essential part of medical screening that all pre-enlistees and servicemen have to undergo before they are enlisted and deployed for military training and operations.



What to prepare for your appointment

You would receive a SMS notification of your upcoming appointment at NHCS SCFC. You will be required to register with your mobile phone on the day of your appointment.

Please remember to bring along your:
  1. NRIC or 11B and IMDF (where applicable)
  2. Resting electrocardiogram (ECG) Results (for consultation appointments only)
  3. Exercise attire, including socks and running shoes if you are required to undergo an exercise stress test (treadmill). For more information about exercise stress test, visit here.

Note: Patients under the age of 21 years will require an accompanying parent or legal guardian (to sign consent form) for the exercise stress test appointment.

What to expect for your appointment

NHCS SAF Cardiac Fitness Centre

After completing the necessary cardiac screening assessments, your medical reports will be reviewed by the referring SAF Medical Officer from the Central Manpower Base (CMPB) or SAF Medical Centre. You will be advised on your overall screening status by the CMPB or SAF Medical Centre.


Frequently Asked Questions

SAF conducts cardiac health screening for pre-enlistees and enlisted NSF/NSman/Regular/DXO. You may be referred here to undergo tests to determine your cardiovascular fitness, even if you are physically fit.
We are unable to provide advice to individuals without proper clinical assessment. It would be best to check with the CMPB or SAF Medical Centre on whether you are suitable to do any physical activities.
Under MOH regulations, it is mandatory for patients under the age of 21 to get parental consent for tests. Patients are allowed to change the appointment if parents are unable to make it for the appointment. Parent/ legal guardian is allowed to visit NHCS before the appointment to give their consent. Parental consent is valid for 3 months from the signing date.

*Patients are generally not allowed to cancel appointments on their own. Cancellation is subjected to the approval of the CMPB or SAF Medical Centre.
Once your investigation results are normal and you are discharged from the SCFC, the medical reports will be sent to the referring SAF Medical Centre to determine your fitness. The SAF Medical Officer will then decide when you may start to take your IPPT.
If your cardiac test is normal, no follow up at SCFC will be required.

If your cardiac test is abnormal or indeterminate, you will be required to undergo additional investigations, as per SAF Health Screening Programme (HSP). You will receive SMS notifications of such tests, and there may be a follow-up appointment with a cardiologist after all the investigations to explain the results to you.

Service personnel who are certified unfit will be informed by the referring SAF Medical Officers from the CMPB or respective SAF Medical Centre.
