Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia

 

NHCS's Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists provide round-the-clock anaesthesia coverage for all elective and emergency operations and procedures including: routine coronary artery bypass graft, complex heart valve repair and replacement surgery, insertion of automated implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) surgical correction of complex thoracic aortic aneurysms and adult congenital heart disease, off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery, heart and lung transplantations and implantation and explantation of ventricular assist devices.

They are involved in the co-management of post-operative patients in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU), and the management of continuous epidural analgesia or patient controlled analgesia for patients after thoracic surgery and selected cardiac procedures.
