Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on Medications

General Enquiry

If you have been informed by the doctor that you have a new medication or if there has been a change in the dosing regimen of your existing medication, please go to NHCS Pharmacy to enquire after the consultation, if you are suitable for medication delivery or need to collect your medication on the same day.
You may request for a reprint of your medication list from the doctors, nurses or pharmacists. Alternatively, you can view your prescription records using the Singhealth Health Buddy app from the next day after consultation. Your prescription records are electronically stored in the pharmacy system for medications available at NHCS pharmacy. You do not need to have the medication list to submit your medication delivery service or for collection of your medications at NHCS pharmacy. You may use the image of the medication label of the medication you wish to order when submitting your order or use an image of your prescription records which are accessible through Singhealth Health Buddy app.
You may present your NRIC and collect the medications at the NHCS level 2 Pharmacy which remains open to handle walk-ins. We are open on Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6pm and Saturday 8.30am to 1pm, excluding public holiday.
You may request for a repeat prescription through the Singhealth Health Buddy app. Please note that changes to prescriptions (add-on of medications not previously prescribed) are not allowed through this service.

Your request will be reviewed by your doctor. If approved, your prescription will be electronically sent to and stored in the pharmacy system for medications available at NHCS pharmacy. You are strongly encouraged to use our Medication Delivery Service and have your medications delivered to you.

For urgent requests (less than three working days’ supply of medications), please consult a doctor at your nearest polyclinic or GP clinic.

If you have been prescribed with a new medication or if there has been a change in the dosing regimen of your existing medication, our pharmacist will contact you and provide counselling over the telephone. If necessary, a video-counselling session can be arranged.

Collecting Your Medications at NHCS

With effect from 30 March 2022, NHCS Specialist Outpatient Clinics will no longer issue paper prescriptions by default. Medication orders prescribed by the doctors are electronically sent to and stored in the pharmacy system for medications available at NHCS pharmacy. For medications not available in NHCS pharmacy, a hardcopy prescription will still be printed for you to collect at another pharmacy using the hardcopy prescription. A medication list can be requested from the doctors, nurses or pharmacist for reference, if required.
The medication list is not a prescription. It is meant to serve as a reference for patients. Alternatively, patients can view their prescription records using the Singhealth Health Buddy app from the next day after consultation.
You may collect your medications at NHCS pharmacy or request for medication delivery service. For your safety and to reduce your dwell time in the hospital, we strongly encourage all patients to use our Medication Delivery Service (MDS) and have your medications delivered to your preferred location. You may use the image of the medication label of the medication you wish to order when submitting your order or use an image of your prescription records which are accessible through SingHealth Health Buddy app.
Your doctor will issue a paper prescription for you to collect your medication from a pharmacy outside of NHCS.
Yes, your prescription remains valid if it is within 1 year of original issue date and has balance medication for collection.

To reduce your exposure, we would strongly encourage you to drop off your original prescription at NHCS pharmacy for medication delivery service.
You will be provided with a medication balance slip after each collection of your medication.
