Heart Valve Surgery

Heart valve surgery is a procedure used to repair or replace diseased heart valves. Abnormalities from heart valve may be present at birth or acquired as a result of causes like infection. The natural ageing process may also affect and weaken the valves. Isolated valve surgery means that only a valve surgery is performed on the patient without any other procedure.

NHCS performed 197 isolated valve surgeries excluding the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) cases in 2022. The mortality rate in was 0.51%.

  • 30-day mortality: Death occurs within 30 days of valve procedure performed
  • The mortality data excludes TAVI cases
  • The above data applies to Singapore residents only.
