Heart Valve Surgery

Heart valve surgery is a procedure used to repair or replace diseased heart valves. Abnormalities from heart valve may be present at birth or acquired as a result of infection. The natural ageing process may also affect and weaken the valves. There are two types of valve surgeries: Valve Repair and Valve Replacement.

NHCS performed 144 isolated valve surgeries excluding the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) cases in 2018. The mortality rate in 2018 was 1.42%.
