Heart Valve Surgery

Heart valve surgery is a procedure to repair or replace diseased heart valves. Abnormalities from heart valve may be present at birth or acquired as a result of infection. The natural ageing process may also affect and weaken the valves. There are two types of valve surgery: valve repair and valve replacement.

NHCS performed 137 isolated valve surgeries excluding the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) cases in 2017. The mortality rate in 2017 was 1.46%.

2. The Valve workload shown above is excluding of TAVI cases

NHCS Isolated Valve 30-days mortality:
1. 30-Day Mortality: Death occurs within 30 days of Valve performed
2. The mortality data is excluding of TAVI cases.
3. The above data applies to Singapore Residents only.
