NHCS’ annual “New Year, New Hope” staff giving campaign returned on 4 February 2026 with the delightful theme "Scoop My Heart!", bringing together management and staff to raise funds for needy heart patients.
With a minimum donation of $3.50, staff could enjoy a traditional ice cream treat while making a meaningful difference. NHCS management and staff exemplified the spirit of giving by helping to serve these nostalgic treats available with wafer, bread, or in a cup.

Our incredible management and staff took time off their schedules to serve ice cream to staff donors and raise funds for needy heart patients!
Everyone’s generosity shone through, with more than 300 servings of ice cream sold in a day. All net proceeds were channelled to the NHCS Heart To Heart Fund, which provides crucial financial assistance to needy heart patients. These funds will ease the financial burden of medical bills and daily expenses for patients and their families, allowing patients to focus on their recovery.
Coming Together for a Meaningful Cause
This campaign, held as part of the annual SingHealth Cluster Staff Giving Bazaar, exemplified a strong spirit of giving as staff from various professions and departments came together to do good and create a meaningful impact in our healthcare community.
The campaign was especially meaningful for Sister Chong Thye, Assistant Director of Nursing, who lent her support every year. “Having cared for countless heart patients over the years, I've seen firsthand the financial struggles many families face during treatment. Donating isn't just about money – it's about giving our patients one less thing to worry about so that they can concentrate on getting better.”

Ms Leow Wanshan, Senior Manager of the Clinical & Translational Research Office, participated in the campaign the first time. "When I first learned about campaign, I wanted to show my support by treating my department to ice cream while contributing to a good cause. The atmosphere was great, and the organising team did an amazing job making this campaign a success."
Dr Audry Lee, Consultant in Cardiology, who helped serve the ice cream, highlighted how the campaign was a great opportunity to connect staff as it also raised awareness about the NHCS Heart To Heart Fund. "This campaign brought staff together over ice cream and reminded us why we do what we do. Seeing colleagues from different departments came together for a good cause shows the true spirit of caring that defines NHCS."

Prof Derek Hausenloy, a Senior Consultant in Cardiology, who supported the campaign for the third time, reflected on the broader impact. “What makes this event so significant is how it highlights the important work of NHCS and our people, while making a difference in our financially needy patients' lives. My team always enjoys supporting the campaign, and seeing their boss doing something different from usual!”

In conjunction with the campaign, our NHCS monthly staff donors were also treated to a complimentary serving of traditional ice cream, as a token of appreciation for their continuous support and generosity towards the NHCS Heart To Heart Fund.
