Content

  • Assessment and evaluation of patients with structural heart disease
  • Interpreting multi-modality imaging (eg. CT, transthoracic echocardiogram, transesophageal echocardiography, etc) to decide on suitability and choice of structural heart intervention.
  • Assisting and hands-on performing of structural heart interventions (eg. TAVI, MitraClip, LAA closure etc)
  • The primary focus will be on achieving competency in performing TAVI. There will be exposure to the other structural heart interventions (eg. MitraClip, LAA closure, etc). The ability to independently perform structural heart interventions will be determined by case volume and personal competency.
  • Learning to deal to difficult scenarios and complications.
  • Post-procedural care and follow-up
  • Perform research in the field of structural heart disease and interventions.

Admission Criteria

  • MMed, MRCP or its equivalent. 
  • Completed 3 years general training in Cardiology
  • Skilled competency in coronary interventions with either completed coronary interventional training of at least 1 year or practicing as interventional cardiologist for at least 1 year
  • Letter of Endorsement (endorsed by the institution’s Head of Department) containing the number of PCI case types completed in the 1 year preceding the fellowship training programme application with NHCS
