Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory Nursing Attachment Programme

​Training outcomes

This programme aims to provide participants with an insight of the roles, functions and responsibilities of Nurses in the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, an overview of the operations of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory and an understanding of the holistic care of patients requiring intervention cardiology procedures. 

Training outline

  • Overview of the basic requirements for the setting of the state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory Suite.
  • Understand the roles, responsibilities and scope of practice of the nurses in the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory.
  • Observe the pre-procedure preparation and post-procedure management of patients undergoing various interventional cardiology procedures.
  • Overview of the haemodynamics and cardiovascular monitoring requirement.
  • Observe the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit programme provided for patients undergoing intervention cardiology.

Duration

3 weeks

Criteria

  • Registered Nurses with clinical experience in managing patients with heart diseases or conditions.
  • Currently working in a Cardiovascular Medicine Unit, Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit or Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory.
