Clin Asst Prof Huang Mingjie

Clinical Assistant Professor Huang Mingjie is a Consultant from the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at National Heart Centre Singapore. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2012. Dr Huang completed his training in cardiothoracic surgery at the National Heart Centre Singapore where he was awarded the annual RiSE (Residency in SingHealth Excels) Award multiple times for having exceptional clinical and academic performance in the top 5% of each Residency cohort. He also led as the SingHealth Chief Resident of Cardiothoracic Surgery from 2019 to 2021 and served in the national MOH Holdings Healthcare Leadership College’s 7th Singapore Chief Residency Programme. He currently serves as an invited alumni council member in the Singapore Chief Residency Programme. Dr Huang also topped the national annual in-training examination in 2019 and 2021. In 2021, Dr Huang was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).

In addition to his clinical duties, Dr Huang is actively involved in research, medical education and quality improvement. He is an adjunct research fellow with SingHealth Duke-NUS Cardiovascular Sciences Academic Clinical programme and was appointed SingHealth Associate in Education based on positive feedback from junior doctors he mentored. He also serves as Clinical Teacher of Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. 

Dr Huang also serves on the SingHealth Joy at Work Taskforce, a committee that works with senior management to effectively deliver patient care and optimise working conditions for junior doctors. He is team leader of two successful quality improvement projects – “Prescribing practices and Medication Wastage in Singapore”, which came in 1st place in the 7th Singapore Chief Residency Programme, as well as “Reducing the number of Chest X rays done after removal of intrapleural drains in Cardiac Surgery patients”, which was featured at the SingHealth Duke-NUS Quality and Innovation Day.
