Overview – National Heart Centre Singapore

The National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS) is a national and regional referral centre for cardiovascular diseases. Established in 1998, NHCS is the pioneer in cardiovascular care in Singapore.

NHCS provides a one-stop comprehensive cardiac care ranging from preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic to rehabilitative services. It is also the only heart and lung transplantation centre in Singapore.

Each year, NHCS handles over 120,000 outpatient consultations, 9,000 interventional and surgical procedures and 10,000 inpatients. Its clinical outcomes for heart attack treatment, balloon angioplasty with stenting and coronary bypass surgery have been shown to be equivalent to international benchmarks.

NHCS ranked as the top specialised hospital for Cardiology in Singapore for Newsweek's World's Best Specialized Hospital 2024. This follows the Top 3 ranking in the 'Best Specialized Hospitals APAC 2023' for Cardiology, and the placement among the Top 100 in the 'World’s Best Specialised Hospital; for 2023, 2022, 2021 (SGH-Cardiology) & 2019. NHCS has also been named as one of Singapore's Best Employers 2024 by The Straits Times and ranked top 5 in the healthcare and social category. Notably, NHCS is the only national specialty centre in the list of 250 employers.

NHCS is a member of SingHealth, the largest healthcare group in Singapore. SingHealth offers a complete range of multi-disciplinary and integrated medical care. The group consists of four Hospitals (Singapore General Hospital, KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Changi General Hospital and Sengkang General Hospital), community hospitals (including Sengkang Community Hospital, Bright Vision Hospital and Outram Community Hospital), five National Specialty Centres (National Heart Centre Singapore, National Cancer Centre Singapore, National Dental Centre Singapore, National Neuroscience Institute and Singapore National Eye Centre) and a network of polyclinics.
