Profile

Dr Sudarshan Seshasai is a Consultant in the Cataract & Comprehensive Ophthalmology Department at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC). He obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 2012. Subsequently, Dr Seshasai underwent rigorous training under the prestigious ACGME-I accredited SingHealth Ophthalmology Residency Program, supported by a Ministry of Health training award. He completed his post-graduate Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology in 2018. He became an accredited specialist in Ophthalmology and was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine (Singapore) in 2021.

His areas of interest are in cataract surgery (including femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery and the use of premium intraocular lenses) and general comprehensive eye screening.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr Seshasai is actively engaged in education, contributing to the training of undergraduates, residents, and allied healthcare professionals. He has played an active role in patient webinars, shared his expertise through media interviews, and presented at international conferences. His dedication to teaching was recognised with him receiving the SingHealth Associate in Education Award in 2021.

Dr Seshasai is also passionate about research, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. In 2024, he earned a Master of International Translational Medicine from Duke-NUS Medical School, further strengthening his academic and clinical expertise. His commitment to delivering exceptional patient care was demonstrated in the conferment of the Singapore Health Quality Service Gold Award in 2022.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, Dr Seshasai is actively involved in community service as a member of Lions Club Singapore. He regularly participates in community eye screening initiatives, underscoring his dedication to improving public health and access to eye care.
