Rules and Regulations

Age Requirements

  • There is no age limitation for participation in the "Fun Walk Category".
  • Minimum age for participation in the "Race Category" is 16 years old (as of 1 January 2018).

Medical Advisory

  • Heart patients currently undergoing treatment and individuals with underlying heart disease, previous stenting, bypass, heart failure or past heart attacks are not encouraged to participate in the "Race Category".
  • It is the responsibility of participants or his/her parent/legal guardian (in the case of a participant below 21 years of age) to ensure that they are certified to be medically and physically fit for the Event.
  • Should any participant feel unwell in the course of either the " Fun Walk" or "Race" category event (each referred to as an "Event" or collectively, the "Events"), he/she should stop and promptly report symptoms or signs indicating any abnormality or distress, to any marshals or staff assigned for duty at the Event. A participant must retire from the Event immediately if required to do so by any member of the official medical staff, Race Director, and/or security officer. The organisers at the National Heart Center of Singapore Pte Ltd ("Organisers") reserve the right to remove any participant deemed physically incapable of continuing with the Event to prevent him/her from causing greater harm and injury to himself/herself and/or endanger the safety of others.
  • Should any participant wish to continue with Event after seeking treatment and/or against doctors' advice, to the extent permitted by applicable laws, the Organisers will not be responsible or held liable for any loss and/or injury that is suffered from the participant's continued participation.
  • The Organisers reserve the right to change the Event routes as they deem fit for the safety of the participants and/or to prevent any potential hazards, at any time without prior notice to the participants. In such cases, every effort will be made to inform the participants prior to the date of the event. The Organisers shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused due to such changes.

Registration

  • Registration must be completed by each participant or his/her parent/legal guardian (in the case of a prospective participant below 21 years of age) and submitted through the online event registration website www.nhcs.com.sg/nhcsheartandsole. Registrations that are not officially endorsed will not be accepted.
  • Team registrations (for Fun Walk category and Race category) are deemed to be completed upon submission of the Indemnity and Waiver Form for Team Registration (For members of age 21 years old and above) before the Event day. Team representatives should ensure that all team members have understood, complete and sign on the form and submit it to the Organiser before 25 July 2018. Otherwise, the organiser retains the right to reject the team registration. The Indemnity and Waiver Form for Team Registration (For members of age 21 years old and above) can be downloaded here.
  • You will be automatically prompted to complete the Indemnity and Waiver Form if the registrant or member is below 21 years old (as of 1 January 2018). 
  • Official acceptance of the online registration will be made upon receipt of payment and all registrations will be on a first come, first served basis. All payments are to be made via accepted credit cards or cheques. No cash shall be accepted. Registration is only confirmed upon successful payment, submission of Indemnity and Waiver Form (through the registration portal or otherwise) and issuance of a confirmation email. All individual or team registrations are issued with a confirmation reference found above the QR code. This confirmation reference is to be quoted in all the correspondence with the Organiser.
  • Completion of the registration and payment of the registration fee represents acceptance of these Rules and Regulations. It is a continuing condition of the Organisers allowing the participant to participate in the Event that the Participant agrees to the Rules and Regulations as amended from time to time.
  • Once the registration is duly processed, there will be no fee refund for Participants who eventually do not take part in the Event, for whatsoever reasons. 
  • The Organisers reserve the right to limit and/or refuse registrations without reason. 
  • All participants agree to provide accurate, current and complete information in the registration form. Any notice sent to the email address registered with the Organiser shall be deemed as received by the Participants.
  • If the participants provide any information that is inaccurate or incomplete, or if the Organiser has grounds to suspect that such information is inaccurate or incomplete, the Organiser may suspend or terminate the participant’s registration at its own discretion. 
  • The Organiser reserves the right to cancel or postpone the Event at any time without prior notice to the participants, in which case they will make an effort to inform the participant prior to the date of the Event. If the Event has to be cancelled or postponed, there shall be no refund of registration fees paid and the Organiser shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused.
     

Points to note for participants for the Fun Walk category

  • Paying participants are to wear the Event T-shirt at all times when participating in the Event.
  • All participants are responsible for their own safety during the Event. All participants are advised to walk on the designated route and observe traffic regulations.
  • All registered Race participants understand and acknowledge the dangers associated with the consumption of alcohol and/or drugs before, during and after the Race and recognise that consumption of alcohol and/or drugs might impair their judgment and/or motor skills. Each participant assumes full responsibility for any loss and/or injury (including death) (a) associated with the consumption of alcohol and/or drugs or (b) caused by, result or arising from or related to their participation in the Event.
  • The participant should inform the event organiser to request for a replacement, and submit the updated registration forms and indemnity and waiver form for the replacement, in writing by at least 72 hours prior to the Race. The form for replacements can be found here.
  • The route map will only be revealed on the day of the Event and each participant will be given a Fun Walk passport to accrue points at each of the activity stations located around Punggol Waterway Park.
  • The flag off time is at 8.30 am. Participants should report to the starting point 30 minutes before the flag off time.
  • Participants are encouraged to complete at least 2 out of the 6 activity stations.
  • Participants of the Fun Walk category are not allowed to participate in the Race category. 
  • Certificate of Participation will be sent via email after the Event upon request.
  • Bag deposit service is not available.
  • Participants are encouraged to bring along the following items:
    • Raincoat/ poncho/ umbrella
    • Cap/ hat
    • Water bottle
    • Mobile phone
    • Small haversack to carry above items as bag deposit service is not available.
       

Points to note for the Race category

  • Paying participants are to wear the Event T-shirt at all times when participating in the Event. 
  • The race route and point system will only be revealed on the day of the race and each team will be given a Race passport to accrue points. 
  • Teams are given a maximum time of 75 minutes and they should return and report to the starting point within the given time (75 minutes) starting from the flag off time. Teams who fail to report within the stipulated time will be penalised with demerit points. As this is a strategic race, the top 5 teams that finish with the highest points wins. 
  • Each team is required to nominate 1 team leader (“Team Leader”) upon registration for the Race. Team Leaders will be updated by the Game Master via a Whatsapp chat group for the entire duration of the Race. 
  • Each team should be made up of 5 members. Should there be any change of members, the Team Leader should inform the event organiser and replace with a new team member (complete with updated registration and Indemnity and Waiver forms) in writing by at least 72 hours prior to the Race. 
  • Bonus points will be awarded to teams with mixed races, genders and team members across 2 different generations (eg. Parent and child, teacher and student, supervisors and supervisees) within the team. 
  • Team members are encouraged to bring along the following items:
    • Raincoat/ poncho/ umbrella
    • Cap/ hat
    • Water bottle
    • Mobile phone
    • Small haversack to carry above items as bag deposit service is not available.
  • All registered Race participants understand and acknowledge the dangers associated with the consumption of alcohol and/or drugs before, during and after the Race and recognise that consumption of alcohol and/or drugs might impair their judgment and/or motor skills. Each participant assumes full responsibility for any loss and/or injury (including death) (a) associated with the consumption of alcohol and/or drugs or (b) caused by, result or arising from or related to their participation in the Event.
  • Teams are not allowed to use any form of wheel-run objects of transport e.g. bicycle, inline skates, e-scooters, shoes with built-in or attached rollers, and personal mobility vehicles. Teams found to be in breach will be disqualified.
  • Teams who accept any assistance from any other un-registered personnel may be disqualified. Decisions of the Organiser are deemed as final.
  • All participants are responsible for their own safety during the event. All participants shall run on the designated route and observe traffic regulations.  
  • The Organiser reserves the right to replace any winners if the team is found to be disqualified. 
  • No un-registered accompanying personnel is permitted to participate in the Race unless otherwise allowed by Organisers.
  • All prizes not claimed during the prize giving ceremony will be forfeited and the Organiser will be at liberty to redistribute or dispose of them accordingly.
  • Prizes must be taken, in the forms as presented by the Organiser. They are not transferable or exchangeable for cash and are subjected to the terms and conditions as determined by the Organiser.
  • Certificate of Participation will be sent via email after the event upon request.  
  • Bag deposit service is not available.
     

Event T-Shirt Collection

  • All participants or race team representatives must collect their event T-shirt from National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS, Address: Level 2, 5 Hospital Drive, 169609) from 18 – 28 July between 1100 – 1400hr on Mon-Fri and 0900 – 1200hr on Saturday.  All participants are required to produce their Confirmation Slips for T-shirt collection.
  • Participants who are unable to collect their T-shirts during the collection dates may authorise a representative to collect on their behalf. All authorised representatives are required to bring along a Letter of Authorisation which can be downloaded here.
  • The Organiser is not obliged to extend the collection period or to ensure that a Participant receives his or her T-shirt. The Organiser shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused, due to Participants’ inability to collect their T-shirt before the event.
  • Change in sizes during collection of the event T-shirt is strictly NOT allowed. Participants must adhere to the event T-shirt sizes they have registered for. The Organisers will not facilitate any exchanges.
  • Size of T-shirt is subject to availability. 

Goodie Bag Collection

  • All participants must collect their goodie bags at Punggol SAFRA between 1030 – 1300hr on 29 July 2018.
  • The Organiser is not obliged to extend the collection period or to ensure that a Participant receives his or her goodie bag. The Organiser shall not be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused, due to Participants inability to collect their goodie bag. Uncollected bags will be deemed as unwanted, and the Organiser shall be at liberty to dispose or re-distribute them accordingly.
  • NHCS and the Organiser do not endorse or recommend any commercial products, processes, or services. Therefore, mention of commercial products, processes, or services on the event website and sponsored products or services accepted for distribution in goodie bag or use on event day does not constitute as endorsement or recommendation.

Cancellation of Events

  • The Organisers reserve the right to delay the commencement of the Events in the event of inclement weather. Should the inclement weather persist after delay, the Organisers reserve the right to cancel the event without any refund. If the event is cancelled, none of the Organiser, Event sponsors or co-sponsors shall be liable for any other loss or inconvenience caused.

PERSONAL INFORMATION CLAUSE

  • Each participant or his/her parent/legal guardian (in the case of a participant below 21 years of age) confirms that he/she: (a) has read, understood and consent to the SingHealth Data Protection Policy (the full version of which is available at www.singhealth.com.sg/pdpa); (b) understands and acknowledges that he/she is deemed to have given consent to the Organisers, their subcontractors and their respective successors or assigns collecting, using and/or disclosing his/her and/or his/her child/ward's personal data, and disclosing such personal data to each other (as may be necessary) for the purpose of processing the participant's registration and such other reasonably related purposes as may be set out in the SingHealth Data Protection Policy, including contacting him/her for any matter in relation to the Event, whether via telephone call, notification e-mails and/or SMSes.
  • The Organisers reserve the right to use any photograph, motion picture recording, or any other record of this run/walk and its participants in any media for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising. All copyright and intellectual property rights in and to the aforementioned belong to National Heart Centre of Singapore Pte Ltd and its related corporations.

GENERAL

  • Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organisers to ensure the participants' safety, the Organisers, Sponsors and their respective directors, officers, personnel, employees and sub-contractors and appointed Officials shall not be liable for any injury, mishap, accident, death or loss or damage to property, suffered or otherwise, howsoever arising.
  • The Organisers, Sponsors, and their respective directors, officers, personnel, employees and sub-contractors and officials of the Event (collectively, the "Released Persons") shall not be held responsible for any claims arising from, relating to or in connection with the Participant's participation in the Event (including for any injury, mishap, accident, death or loss/damage to property) and/or related to any cancellation or disruption of the Event (collectively, "Claims").
  • The Organisers' decision on the Participant's ability to safely participate in or attend the Event is final. No correspondence will be entertained.
  • The Organisers reserve the right to modify or substitute any of these Rules & Regulations from time to time as they deem fit and without giving prior notification or any reasons thereof. If there is ambiguity in any of these provisions, the Organisers shall be the authority to interpret and in so doing, they will take into account the interests of all the affected Participants. Any amendments to these Rules & Regulations and/or Terms & Conditions will be updated on the Official Website. The Participants continued participation in the Event shall be deemed to be acceptance of the amended Rules and Regulations by the Participant and his/her parent/legal guardian (in the case of a participant below 21 years of age).
  • If any provision of these Rules and Regulations shall be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from these Rules and Regulations and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining Policies.
  • These Rules and Regulations shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore. Each participant or his/her parent/legal guardian (in the case of a participant below 21 years of age) agrees that any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Rules and Regulations and/or the Participant's participation in the Event, shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration administered by the Singapore International Arbitration Centre ("SIAC") in accordance with the Arbitration Rules of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre ("SIAC Rules") for the time being in force, which rules are deemed to be incorporated by reference in this clause. The seat of the arbitration shall be Singapore. The Tribunal shall consist of one arbitrator. The language of the arbitration shall be English.
  • All registered participants are solely responsible for their personal possessions during the Event. The Organiser will not be responsible for any loss and/or damage, personal or otherwise.
  • Pets (dogs, cats or other animals) will not be allowed on the routes and event site.
  • While the information provided herein is believed to be reliable, the Organisers make no representation or warranty whether expressed or implied, and accept no responsibility or reliability for its incompleteness or inaccuracy.
