"Some people may think that a radiographer's job is to deal with radios, but what we actually do is produce medical images with the help of radiation.

I recall a very young patient who came in for an x-ray of his wrist after he fell.  He was sobbing uncontrollably and he wouldn't let anybody touch his injured arm.  His parents were so anxious and worried because he was in so much pain.  Being in an unfamiliar environment can be a very daunting experience for a child, so I tried my best to reassure the child and encouraged him in the entire process.  Seeing the fear and anxiety fade away from the child's face made everything all worthwhile.

As a radiographer, I play an important part in improving patient outcomes and experiences.  We must ensure that for every case, no matter how challenging it might be, we get the best possible images to aid our patients in their diagnoses."
