Geriatric Nursing Course for Cardiac Nurses

Course objective

This programme aims to equip the Registered Nurses & Enrolled Nurses with the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes required to care for the elderly.

Course content

  1. The impact of the aging population on healthcare
  2. Effects of aging on the different body systems
  3. Nursing considerations while administering medications to the elderly
  4. Nursing management of the elderly with impaired cognitive function
  5. The importance of adequate nutrition in the elderly
  6. Pain management in the elderly
  7. Nursing interventions in the prevention of falls in the elderly
  8. Pressure ulcer development due to age related changes
  9. Nursing management of the elderly with urinary incontinence
  10. The role of the nurse in promoting wellness at the end of life
  11. The importance of early discharge planning for the elderly
