Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiothoracic Surgery Nursing Attachment Programme

Training outcomes

This programme aims to provide participants with a learning environment, to understand the holistic approach in the total care of patients, in Cardiovascular Medicine and Cardiothoracic Surgery and a comprehensive programme to understand the professional practice of Nursing in NHCS.

Training outline

  • Overview of the pathophysiology, medical and surgical management of cardiac and thoracic patients.
  • Pre-operative and post-operative management of patients undergoing various intervention cardiology procedures and cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Haemodynamics and cardiovascular monitoring.
  • Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit Programme.
  • Infection Control Principles and Practices in NHCS.

Duration

1 to 2 months

Criteria

  • Registered Nurses with clinical experience in managing patients with cardiovascular and thoracic conditions/diseases.
  • Currently working in a Cardiac Rehabilitation or Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit.
