Cardiovascular Laboratory Nursing Attachment Programme

Duration

Three Weeks

Outcomes

  • To provide participants with an insight of the roles, functions and responsibilities of Nurses in the Cardiovascular Laboratory.

  • To give participants an overview of the operations of the Cardiovascular Laboratory.

  • To facilitate participants in understanding the holistic care of patients requiring intervention cardiology procedures.

Contents
  • Overview of the organisational structure, functions, philosophy and objectives of National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS).

  • Overview of the basic requirements for the setting of the state-of-the-art Cardiovascular Laboratory Suite.

  • Understand the roles, responsibilities and scope of practice of the nurse in the CVL.

  • Observe the pre-procedure preparation and post-procedure management of patients undergoing various interventional cardiology procedures.

  • Overview of the haemodynamics and cardiovascular monitoring requirement.

  • Observe the cardiovascular rehabilitation programme provided for patients undergoing intervention cardiology.

Criteria
  • Registered Nurses with clinical experience in managing patients with heart diseases or conditions.

  • Currently working in a Cardiovascular Medicine Unit, Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit or Cardiovascular Laboratory.
