OBJECTIVE
To provide the subspecialty echocardiographic fellow with the theoretical and practical aspects of echocardiography, including two-dimensional colour doppler and M-mode techniques, exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiography, as well as intraoperative and diagnostic transoesophageal examinations.

Understand the theoretical aspects of echocardiographic technique.

Learn the practical aspects of the various echocardiographic examination techniques.

Master the interpretations, and clinical applications of all the various echocardiographic techniques offered.

Conduct two-dimensional, M-mode, doppler and colour-doppler examinations.

Understand and performs exercise stress echocardiography.
-
Understand and performs pharmacological stress echocardiography, such as dobutamine stress echocardiography.

Performs transoesophageal echocardiography in the echocardiographic laboratory, coronary care unit and intraoperative area.

Be responsible for data entry and records of the patients.

Participate in research projects involving these patients.
ADMISSION CRITERIA

MMed, MRCP or its equivalent

Completed 2 years of general training in Cardiology

The fellow should preferably be competent in interpretation of basic two-dimensional, M-mode and colour-doppler images.
